Class

March 18, 2009

Today in class we learned how to make a webpage using colors and backgrounds and borders.  I found it very confusing uploading all of the pictures and pages onto the freehostia account, but was finally able to figure it out.  I get confused easily and often forget the steps in creating webpages and such.

Class work

March 10, 2009

Today we had a class where we caught up on class work.  This was very helpful to me, I was able to fix my freehostia blog and my flickr account.  I also was able to figure out to hit the “publish” button in order to have my blogs show up on wordpress.  My group was very helpful, we all worked together and helped eachother to figure out our freehostia accounts.  Today was a very productive day for me, I feel that we should definetley have class work days at least once a month!

March 10, 2009

Nick’s presentation was on Bill Gates, the chairman of Microsoft.  Bill talks about how everything is web based.  He says that you want an application that can run with out the internet, but that can run with the internet as well.  Bill realizes that he has competition with google and cellphone services.  Interviewer suggests that cell phones will replace PCs, Bill Gates reputles that PCs have much more power.  Nick focuses on ethics, stating that eithiscs is a major problem with software.  Internet information is available on almost anyone at any time.  Gates also disscussed ththe possibility of cameras taht can read what you are doing.  I find this disturbing!!!!  I thought Nick’s presentation was very good!

Kylie’s Presentation

March 10, 2009

Kylie presented on Thomas L. Friedman.  Thomas Friendman joined the New York times in 1981 as a financial reporter.  He won the pulitzer prize.  He started working witht the discovery channel after september 11th.  Thomas talks about the world being “flat” meaning that we are all in competition with one another.  The whole world is in competition with everyone else due to technology.  Friedman talks about going to the airport and purchasing a ticket that gives him a bad seat.  He then realizes that the other passengers had purchased them the night before online.  The world is “flat” becasue every country, company, and now indi vidual is able to upload and download data.  In this class we too upload and download data, proving Friedman’s point!

Mary’s presentation

March 10, 2009

Today in glass mary gave a presentation on designing video games.  Sprites squares are 16 by 16, mary has many different sprites to make up her version of tetris.  For every sprite an object must be created, same with objects and same with squares.  Scrips makes object that is blank to an object number that is picked.  Alarm is used on objects to make the object jerk down.  Image index is the sum of images.  The tetris blocks are moved with the up and down arrows.

Carlos’ presentation

March 10, 2009

Carlos’s presentation is about an hour panel discussion about convergence in technology from the TechNet summit in Mountain Vie, California with Terry Semel, Chairman and CEO of Yahoo!  I learned that a machine becomes twice as fast in one year, technology advances quickly per year.   Moors law-lots of transistors.  Move toward putting more than one computer on one chip.

the approacn of the ceo’s of the four search engineers in to show that our future is expanding.  Logic is to improve and converge our technology of today and make it better for the user.  The four men were very effective.  This vido has a lot to do with our course, technologically based.  There is no doubt in teh interview, technology is moving very quickly.
